The much threatened #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria took off today in in Nigeria recording divergent results and outcomes in different parts of the country.
The protests precipitated by increasing economic hardship in the country, has been staged to get the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu government to arrest the situation.
The Eagle Newsmedia’s investigations show that different states are responding differently to the protests.
Whereas Ogun State neigbourhoods are relatively bereft of usual human bubbles with its streets scanty, it is one of outright boycott in some parts of the east and north.
In Abuja, the federal capital however, #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters massed about at the Eagles Square, seeking opportunity to drive home their demands.
However, when some protesters began to get active, by the fringes of The Eagle Square, they got a prompt response from the police which fired teargas canisters.
Many were complaining by the back lines, querying the challenging economy in th efface of plenty.
Even attempts by some journalists, to speak with the protesters was disrupted by tear gas fire.
Earlier, the Minister of State for Youths Development, Ayodele Olawande, was practically shouted down by some of the protesters who had arrived waiting at the ceremonial venue.
IT took awhile, before he could find listening space to appeal to the protesters as some of them were saying “hunger dey”, as response.
It took his reiteration of: “I’m not here to fight you, I’m not here to ask you not to protest, it is your right. Like I said, I’ve been to over 100-500 protests,” for him to get a lead in speaking to the crowd.
One Blessing Joel, ostensibly one of the leaders of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria at that flank told journalists that his group did not want to protest because it was aimed at President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
