According to Naija News, the incident occurred around 12:30 AM on Wednesday when the tanker toppled, prompting villagers to scoop fuel before the explosion ensued.
In a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima announced the federal government’s immediate response and called for a thorough review of fuel transportation safety protocols throughout Nigeria.
He commended first responders and medical personnel for their relentless efforts, stating that their dedication “exemplifies the best of our nation’s spirit.”
Shettima offered prayers for the families affected by the tragedy, saying, “My heart aches for those who have had their families torn apart by this disaster.”
