Forty-eight hours after the unveiling of Ogun State All Progressives Congress consensus governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, the Governor, Senator Ibikunke Amosun, on Saturday unveiled Mrs Adepeju Adebajo as his running mate.
Adebajo is the serving state Commissioner for Agriculture, who until her appointment, was in the private sector.
Amosun, after meeting with party leaders from the three senatorial districts who had unanimously adopted Akinlade as the party’s consensus candidate, endorsed Adebajo as the running mate to Akinlade.
The governor’s endorsement came after the state party chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, announced Adebajo as the running mate to the governorship candidate.
Earlier, elders of the party from Ogun East had met with the state party leaders, including the national financial secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, and Adebiyi.
Adebiyi later presented Akinlade to the leaders of the party from Ogun East, seeking their support.
Speaking on behalf of the Ogun East senatorial district, the senatorial party chairman, Alhaji Bayo Yakub, said the leaders and members of the senatorial district, agreed with the zoning arrangement and were ready to support the candidacy of Akinlade.
They later endorsed him through a motion moved by a former chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area, Tunde Oladunjoye, and he was supported by the Majority leader, Ogun State House of Assembly, Yinka Mafe, who represents Sagamu 1 Constituency. (Visited 3,506 times, 48 visits today)
