The Association for Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria (AEIAN) as an affiliate of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) plans to collaborate with the Association of Environmental Journalist to hold a one day seminar themed: Understanding Climate Change and the Significance of Sharing What We Know.
The strategic objective of this collaborative engagement is to mutually institutionalize a process through which the IAIA and its affiliate AEIAN develop a relationship through which scientific based conclusions, information and facts about climate change and related issues are disseminated to the public.
With a sea of consultants, academics, regulators, policy (makers/administrators) and NGO’S contributing to the Impact Assessment (IA) practice- this seminar seeks to explore ways with which information and scientific based the findings are disseminated to the public.

The gap that often exist when communicating science related impact assessment findings can be daunting. It has in essence, left the space prone to misinterpretation /misrepresentation and on the other hand, which is even more worrisome misinformation and disinformation.T
heoutcomes from the latter have been suggested to have contributed to the wider embrace of the simple tools of mitigating the effects of climate change etc at accelerated level.
Scope and topics for discussion
The following issues will be discussed during the seminar includes:
i. Development of strategies for the dissemination of environmental information (tools/frequency of when and how news and information are shared)
ii. Identification and partnering with relevant stakeholders ( designation /sharing of responsibility etc such as information source and verification)
iii. Development of strategy or tools for evaluation of the impact or benefit of the specific environmental research or information..
