A Non-Governmental Organisation, Nigeria Professional Working Women, NPWW, has stressed the needfor professional women in the country to support, celebrate one another and share experiences amongst themselves so that they can take their rightful place in the country and contribute more to national development.
Speaking at the groups launching and inaugural conference, in Abuja, the President and founder of NPWW, Adenike Jennifer Emiola Iyiola expressed the resolve of her organization to tackle obstacles and hinderances against women in the country, especially as it concerns Nigerian professional women and entrepreneurs by sharing experiences and networking extensively.
According to her, “the purpose is for female professionals and entrepreneurs to come together under one umbrella, to discuss the obstacles that often stand in the way of our future, aspirations, goals, and success.
“This launching and inaugural conference, deliberated and designed plans on not only to confront them, but find lasting solutions into overcoming them. This we believe, can be achieved, by sharing our business and leadership experience collectively from our hard-earned lessons.
“This can be accomplished by collectively harnessing our career and personal ambitions to develop and attain our personal and professional goals. This hopefully will initiate and build life-long relationships, friendships and networking, that will turn our dreams, into functional and productive realities,” she concluded.
She listed the goals of her NGO to include, to decrease isolation, provide role models, and create consistent support structures. Create a goal-oriented network that takes into consideration women’s professional uniqueness and support needs. According to her, “what works for me may not work for others.” She equally want provide each woman with a roadmap for personal advancement and career objectives based on her own definition of success.
She added that “women are the future. We are the nation. We are the oxygen that sustains the world. We are the builders of homes, souls of ministries and corporations. We are managers of skills and achievers of goals.” She further expressed her readiness to provide a unique platform for Nigerian women to come together in order to strengthen and enhance their professionalism and entrepreneurship skills.
