Kogi state government has solicited for the support of Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) for industrialization park and Special Free Trade Zone in the state .
The Governor of the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who stated this during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) office in Abuja on Tuesday, said it was part of their visit to improve the economic status of the state .
The governor who was represented by the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor of Kogi state, Aliu Salami, said they are there to seek for collaboration to institute an industrialization park and Special Free Trade Zone in the state and also to lay the building block to be guided for the benefit of the state.
He said Kogi state has been blessed with solid minerals in commercial quantities, huge agricultural potentials in the state and abundant human resources.
“We are mixing all of these together to ensure that it works for state ,” he said.
The Managing Director MD/CEO of NEPZA, Dr Olufemi Ogunyemi said there are great raw materials that need to be harvested for generating and simulating the economy of Kogi state.
He said they establish license support and regulate special economic zones and Kogi state can have special economic zones to harness all these potentials for industrialization opportunities.
He said it is good for the state because they will be able to generate employments, taxes, developmemt of surrounding communities and transfer of technology by training the local people .
