No repentant Boko Haram In Nigerian military – Presidency

The Presidency has denied that repentant Boko Haram members who have completed a de-radicalization programme are being absorbed into the nation’s military.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesman,

Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Wednesday night, it assured that the administration is conscious of its duties to society and the victims of terrorism.

The statement posited that there is no plan to recruit them into the military, noting that the de-radicalized former Boko Haram fighters went through a programmme with an established example from countries with similar experiences.

The Presidsncy admonished their societies to reabsorb them to prevent their returning to the crime.

“The Buhari administration is a responsible one and is conscious of its duty to the state and society, and to the victims of terror as well as to those who inflicted these pains and losses on our people,” the statement said.
