A pressure based group in Umuahia Abia State Abia Professionals Network has called for the speedy trial of former Abia state governor Orji Uzor Kalu on allegations of fraud.
In a statement made available journalists in Abuja, said that the Orji’s tenure as governor led to the pillaging and depletion of the state’s revenue.
The group’s national coordinator Charles Okereke urged the speedy trial of Orji over theN7.6bn fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.
Orji Kalu’s claim of returning to Germany between 10-22 of this month for the continuation of his medical treatment, is a ruse and an attempt to evade justice.
“He is a notorious liar with a penchant for chicanery and befuddlement, as we urge EFCC to discountenance his spurious claim”, the group said.
The group in the statement appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to deepen his crusade against corruption by increasing budgetary allocation to EFCC.
