VIO, Estate Developer Signs Mou for Mass Housing

In a bid to deliver affordable housing to the officers and men of Vehicle Inspection Officers popularly known as VIOs, Domak Shelter Limited a mass housing developer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) with VIO Home and Welfare Staff Cooperative Society Limited for a 1000 housing scheme at Domak Garden City, Karshi, Nasarawa state.

Speaking during the signing of the MoU in Abuja, the Director of VIO Wadata Bodinga represented by the Director Administration Usman Yahaya described the event as historical and landmark. According to him this would enhance the welfare of VIOs nationwide and commended the initiative and called on the developer to ensure that the houses will be affordable for VIOs and nationwide.

“The issue of housing is very important to civil servants. After retirement, the pension may not be forthcoming but with a house of your own, you have something to fall back on. After the former minister of FCT, Malam Nasir El-Rufai sold houses, those who joined the civil service after could not benefit. Housing is very key after retirement. The mistake was that after the first batch of the houses were sold; no houses were sold after that.

According to Fidelis Nnadi, the consultant to VIO and Secretary National Conference of Chief Vehicle Inspectors, the umbrella body of VIOs nationwide, the housing scheme was brought to the VIOs in most liberal terms, to enable them own houses. He informed that the scheme was approved by the Chairman National Conference of Chief Vehicle Inspectors, Paul Bupeh as well as members of the VIO Cooperative Committee. He further stated that the scheme has received wide acceptance from the officers and men who believe that this is a golden opportunity for them to own houses.

In his remarks, the Chairman Domak Shelter Limited, Kingsley Azonobi expressed the readiness of his group to deliver the 1000 housing units on schedule. He disclosed that his group has been building for cooperatives for the past eight years adding that he is set to provide something unique for the VIOs.
